Bowtie Kitty
This is a Quilter's Online Resource pattern. This block frustrated me at first as it was templates, and inset seams, but the directions weren't marked for the seams. Through trial and error I made it work ;) |
|
Kelvie's Kitties
This is from the book The Cat's Meow by Janet Kim. This pattern features templates and inset seams as well. This was the first pattern that I conquered doing templates and inset seams. |
|
Motley Crew
This is another one from the The Cat's Meow. The Ladies on my quilt lists have called these Grandmother Fan Kitties. Templates and applique. The head and tail overlap onto neighbouring blocks |
|
Kittleson's Cats
The Cat's Meow pattern again. This is my dark kitty. Him and his partner were my reward for doing up my Kelvies and the bowtie kitties. These made up in a snap! |

Cat and Her Favourite
This block has a skein of yarn, a milk jug and a mouse. The cat unit is in 5 pieces and has LOTS of angles. I had a hard time with this block and it took me over 4 hours to finish it - mostly in 2 spots. This block is from Kitten's Mitten. I'll be using the yarn and whatnot as fillers. I may not make the twin of this pattern. |
|
Jazz Cats
Another Cat's Meow pattern. These guys are the focal point to my quilt. The twisty tails are just perfect. Mind you they better be, I had to do the tail twice! |
|
Motley Crew
Twin for the first one, facing in the opposite direction. I used a funky bright fabric and more 'normal' colours for the other - while these kitties may be twins .. they are unique, just like all cats are. |
|
Kittleson's Cats
The light twin to the first one .. they were made to contrast one another and they will be in different locations in the quilt |

Kelvie's Kitty
This is the bright twin to his more sophisticated dressing brother in his tux. Another Cat's Meow pattern. Inset seams and templates. |
|
Bow Tie Kitty
Here's the contrasting block to my bright yellow kitty previously mentioned. |
|
Log Cabin Kitty
I'm not sure if I'm going to use this one or not. It's hard to see the kitty, and even in the book it appeared to get lost in the process. Another Cat's Meow Pattern - This is now for Pix; maybe he'll stop leaving clumps of fur on Reg's quilt until I get it done |
|
Sampler Cats
From Cat's Meow again; block measures 5x8 and there are 15 different cat bodies to choose from. I miscut and ended up with 2 Farmer's Daughter. I've got one more cut, and will finish it tomorrow - ooboo block - likely to become a block for the cat quilt |

Sampler Cats
This one was my problem child, I may not even keep this one - I think I would almost have to cut his ear off in order to make him square .. but he will need side borders so that "might help .. I'm thinking about it |
|
Sampler Cats
Sister's Choice; Not sure what it was, but my cutting must have been off on these as I had lots of fun with them. Rotary Cutting |
|
Mom's Cats
Again a Cat's Meow Pattern. Should have made up in a snap, but I must have miscut on the shoulders and I couldn't fidge it so I needed to cut one background and cat piece for this block. It did make up pretty quick tho and I do really like them |
|
Mom's Cats
Buddy to the first one, these cats should have some sort of embellishment for an apron (lace etc), but as this isn't going to be a wallhanging, but a nap quilt, I've opted to leave them off - easy but for the shoulder that needed to be recut; operator error :) |

Plaid Cats
I know that these cats look nothing like plaid, that's the name of the pattern in the Cat's Meow Book that I used. In the book, the cats are all made with plaid .. pretty cool looking me thinks. These were an absolute snap to cut and stitch up. Even with putting the shoulder on backwards |
|
Plaid Cats
Twin to the first. I really like the way that these two turned out. This could one of those quilt in a day type quilts if you were to use just this one pattern |
|
That Darn Cat
A really cute pattern from Debbie Mum's "bowser's & Meowers" Another one of those sew on the line and then cut HST methods - Block is pretty cute and I do like it .. altho I was hoping it would have been bigger, but do not ask me where that came from as 7 x 7 is that size no matter what :S |
|
That Darn Cat
The twin - this one was my problem child; ah well .. they are all my children; problem or no. |

Sleeping Cat
Gorgeous pp pattern by Maureen (Mobird) Sparrow. Rather intricate with some fussy lines and itty bitty teensy weensy pieces. But an interesting block nonetheless .. I did enjoy piecing this but only going to do 1 instead of 2. I got this pattern from Paper Panache where Maureen has submitted this pattern as a guest designer. |

Mini Cat 4x4"
What I decided to do to make his tail stand out was reverse the fabric .. I almost wish I had thought of this BEFORE i got it mostly pieced, BUT this fabric is so cute that I didn't want to reverse all of it |
|
Mini Cat 4x4"
One good thing about paper piecing is that you can sort of plan the way that your fabrics will lay in the block - I noticed his feet are reversed with the background; I saw this AFTER the block was pieced. That section was pre-pieced and a real pain to line up just right (you can see I didn't line it up just right either) I just may leave this one like that |
|
Mini Cat 4x4
This guy was a lot of fun to make. The fabric that I chose for this makes this kitty almost look like a funky calico. The lines worked out just so and really makes him look like he's actually moving |
|
Mini Cat 4x4
This guy .. esh .. the head piece on him had **10** pieces to piece. OI .. what a pain. I like how a cat on his chest looks like a bib and the rest of the placement is great .. but that blasted head! Drove me nuts it did .. I didn't think that that cat was ever going to be done (!) |

Mini Cat 4x6
I used a really bright and funky fabric for this guy. I just love how his face worked out. The bib fabric is WOW kitties as well. I almost think that this fabric is too busy for such a little kitty. But I can have him all by himself in the quilt so that he doesn't overpower whatever is near him. |
|
Mini Cat 4x6
Another bright busy fabric, but it seemed to work better on this one for some reason. Maybe because while it's bright, it's not as bright as the other?? Not sure, but I do like this one |
|
Mini Cat 4x6
This guy I had to take half apart .. like the one kitty with the reversed tail, I did that with this one as well initially. welp, i thought part way in that it might not work as this cat is purple and the reverse MIGHT blend in .. and it did .. I should have done the blue that I used with the 10 piece head instead. So I grabbed a black (same one I used in Kelvie's Kitties) and used that for the tail instead. It looks alright, but not quite how I wanted it. BUt I can live with it |
|
Mini Cat 4x6
She looks great with this fabric .. another funky birght one. The lines worked out right and she looks like she has blazes on her face. I just love how her leg and tail hang over. |
